Medical / Nursing
Medical / Nursing covers all outpatient including Franklin, Transitions, Children’s Partial and IOP. Works with the doctor to help anyone who is having issues that may need a medication change or adjustment. Monitoring for atypical anti-psychotics which can increase a consumer’s weight, blood sugar and cholesterol so medication can be adjusted or changed if needed. Provide long acting injections to consumers that are ordered theses medications. A group for Clozaril users is provided. 
 
The Mobile Medication Program
The Mobile Medication Program is a voluntary service offered to adults with a serious mental illness residing in Venango County. The program is designed to promote medication adherence and the reduction of crisis situations and/or re-hospitalizations. Also reaching out to consumers upon discharged from the hospital to provide support during their return to the community.    
a reconciliation of current medication is conducted in the home. Education is provided on the purpose, dose, frequency, and side effects of each medication, as well as symptoms to report and when to seek emergent care. In addition, consumers are assisted in managing appointments and their overall healthcare needs. The frequency and intensity of this service is based on the individual needs of each consumer.

Consulting Psychiatrist

Kathy Goodwin RN

Kathy is a registered Nurse, obtained Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clarion University.  
Most recently, instrumental in expanding the Mobile Psychiatric Medication Program with the Regional Counseling Center in Venango County. 
Additional experience includes working with adult and pediatric patients in the medical/surgical acute care unit at UPMC Northwest, and then transitioned to Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County to provide in-home care to patients.     
Previously spent over 20 years working with court adjudicated youth, both dependent and delinquent, in a residential treatment setting, with the goal of the youth successfully returning their home community. 

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to meet the need of the individuals.

Nurse/Medication Focus

 90% of all prescriptions using the e-Rx electronic prescription computer program, which helps eliminate “lost” prescriptions and the need for a consumer to come and physically pick up a scheduled medication prescription.

 A group for Clozaril Users

Medical / Nursing covers all outpatient including Franklin, Transitions, Children’s Partial and IOP. 
The Mobile Medication Nurse also provides as needed services for the RCC Transitions and Outpatient Programs. 

Mobile Medication Nurse Focus:

Education is provided on the purpose, dose, frequency, and side effects of each medication
Reconciliation of current medication is conducted in the home
Upon discharged from the hospital to provide support during their return to the community

Individuals will likely have: 

  • Value/Beacon Health Insurance
  • Venango County Human Services has a process in place to provide some funding for those consumers who have a need but do not have insurance coverage.
